Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, the fighting senator from the Philippines, defeated, in a unanimous decision, American professional boxer Adrien Broner during their WBA (Regular) welterweight championship match on January 19 (January 20 in Philippines).
Pacquiao – scoring 117-111, 116-112, 116-112 – was able to retain the said title. His professional standing improved to 61-7-2. The match was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“There’s a lot of people, the tickets are sold out. I’m very excited for this fight,” Pacquiao said in a video uploaded in his Instagram account before heading to MGM Grand. “Thank you guys for supporting us and for your prayers. We really appreciate it.”
With this win, a rematch between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is highly anticipated.
The fighting senator is now 40 years old.
